Lift Here! Decals 1/72 RAF (Yug.) Squadrons Spitfires & Hurricanes

By Chris Banyai-Riepl

This interesting little company provides decals for the small air force of Yugoslavia throughout its history, and does so in a well-researched and nicely presented package. This sheet deals with the Yugoslav squadrons flying in the RAF during the Second World War, these being the 351st and 352nd Squadrons. The 351st flew Hurricanes, while the 352nd took to the air in Spitfires. A total of four options are presented on this sheet, two Spitfires and two Hurricanes, with enough roundels to do all four. The options are:

Spitfire Mk. Vb, 352nd (Yug.) Sq., RAF, ES257/K, Libya, Summer 1944. This plane is finished in standard RAF green and gray camouflage, with the name "Slovenec" on the lower cowling in red.

Spitfire Mk. Vc, 352nd (Yug.) Sq., RAF, JK808/B, Dalmatia, Spring 1945. Again, standard RAF camouflage of green and gray. An interesting side note, this plane currently resides in the Aeronautical Museum in Belgrade.

Hurricane Mk. IIC, 351st (Yug.) Sq., RAF, LD116/A, Libya, Summer 1944. This Hurricane is finished in the RAF desert camouflage of dark earth and middlestone over azure blue.

Hurricane Mk. IV, 351st (Yug.) Sq., RAF, KX800/T, Dalmatia, Spring 1945. This plane is finished in standard RAF ETO camouflage of dark green and gray.

This decal sheet offers some unique examples to add to your collection, and represent an interesting period in history. The decals are very well printed by Propagteam and have excellent registration. If you want to build another Spitfire or Hurricane, but are bored with the standard RAF markings, this is a sheet you'll want to pick up. Check the Lift Here! website for ordering and distribution information. Our thanks to Life Here! for the review sample.
