Whiskey Jack Decals 1/72 Kenting Aviation Ltd. Mosquito

By Chris Banyai-Riepl

Overview

Kenting Aviation Limited was one of several aerial survey firms that sprang to life in Canada after the Second World War. Kenting's large and varied fleet included Hudsons, B-17s, Mosquitos, Cansos, and the Supermarine Walrus "Putsy Putsy". A subsidiary of the Hunting Group (UK), the fleet performed mapping, geophysical, and topographic surveys. Kenting was heavily involved in operations in the Canadian north, flying from extremely remote and rough bases.

The Decals

Few planes are as attractive as the de Havilland Mosquito and few kits are as nice as the Tamiya 1/72 example of this famous plane. Taken out of drab military colors, the Mosquito becomes even more attractive, which makes this decal sheet a very welcome one indeed. The Kenting Mosquitos were finished in overall aluminum dope with red trim covering the wingtips, spinners, and tail. A red cheatline runs down the fuselage side. Kenting titles are provided for the fuselage as well as logos for the nose. Registrations are provided for both CF-GKK and CF-GKL, and there are extras provided to allow you to build both of these aircraft from this one sheet. Since these are Alps-printed decals, a protective overcoat is highly recommended. The color saturation is very good, with the red vibrant and opaque. Registration is spot on as well.

For those who want something different for their Mosquito kits piling up in the closet, this sheet is one well worth having. Check out their website for ordering information. Our thanks to Whiskey Jack for the review sample.
