The final volume of this set covers the Militia and Provincial troops of South Carolina, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Georgia, plus the militia “over the border” in Canada: Nova Scotia, Hudson’s Bay (yes, the Hudson’s Bay Company had its own militia) and Quebec. Not only all these, but all of the Ranger companies are covered too!

There’s some description of their various campaigns, but the real focus of the book is on the uniforms. They’re described where any details are known, and the colour plates show them in excellent fashion. This was a colourful period, and many of these troops could be modelled with only slight modification to stock figures of the War of Independence period. Others will need a lot more work – I’m not aware of any commercial figure in the “great plaid” style of kilt for instance, as worn by the Georgia Highland Independent Company of Foot.

Here’s a mine of information for anyone interested in the colonial days of North America, either as historian or figure modeller. Highly recommended!
