Top Fuel drag racers are unique competition machines that can cover the quarter mile in less than five seconds at over 300 MPH from a standing start! They are the ultimate hot rods. A recent release by aftermarket decal manufacturer Just Want to Build a Model, in conjunction with Mike's Scale Speed Shop, provides an alternative marking scheme for the latest 1/25th scale top fuel dragster kits available fromĀ Revell (kit #7680 Tony Schumacher Army and kit #7694 Kenny Bernstein Budweiser kits). This set allows a modeler to replicate the Miller Lite sponsored car of the 2002 NHRA Top Fuel Champion Larry Dixon.
There are two small sheets of waterslide decals provided, but since the actual body surface of a top fuel dragster is rather small, these decals will cover most of the bodywork. The base color is a metallic blue, the white stripes run the length of the nose and there are no less than twelve Miller Lite product logos. All the other contingency sponsor decals are provided.
The package contains an 81/2 x 11 instruction sheet, with seven black and white photos of the actual car as it raced at the Chicagoland Dodge Dealers NHRA Nationals at the Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois in June 2002. The photos are of various angles and provide placement references. Also, specific paint references are provided for an exact match.
The decals are printed in Italy by Cartograph, so the quality is excellent. Printing is extremely sharp, and the colors are accurate.
