Last month I reviewed some of the Tally Ho! stencil sheets and this month I received a few more, this time all in 1/72. The Spitfire, Mustang and Mosquito sheets are identical to the 1/48 sheets reviewed last month, so I’ll refer you back to that review for those. The Fw 190 sheet is a new one, though, and like the other sheets it provides stenciling for two aircraft. There’s a lot of options, though, so you’ll want to do some research on the particular aircraft you’re building to make sure you use the right set. You get three styles of fuel filler triangles, two different propeller blade logos, two styles of drop tank stencilling (black and red) and two styles of wing walk dashed lines (one in black and one in gray). Other variations include trim tab markings, gear door markings and tailwheel notations. Using up one set will still leave you with many stencils left over, giving you the ability to completely stencil two aircraft and partially stencil a couple more.
The decals are well printed with much of the stencils still legible even at the small sizes they’re printed at. Stenciling isn’t noticed much until you place a model with complete stenciling next to one that has none. Stenciling gives you a much more realistic appearance to your model and this sheet is a must-have for your latest Fw 190 project.
