Starting in the new millennium we're archiving back issues onto CD-ROM. There's several benefits to doing this, both to us here at Internet Modeler and you, the reader. It makes our server a bit faster, making searches go faster online. For you, having the Internet Modeler issues on CD-ROM means you don't have to connect to the Internet to read an issue. There's no bottleneck as you try to download images at 56K. And if you own a laptop with a CD-ROM drive, you can even read IM when the power goes out! | | While we're removing issues a few at a time, the Archive CD-ROMs will contain an entire year's worth of pages, including several different comprehensive indices of everything contained within the pages of that year, sorted by manufacturer, author, category (aviation, naval, etc.) and type (feature, first look, etc.). Links to the basic online index pages are below and will give you a good idea as to what is going to be on each CD. The first CD includes all of the 1998 issues (September through December) as well as all of 1999. The year 2000 CD is also available, containing all the year 2000 issues. In addition to the Internet Modeler CD-ROMs, we are also offering the complete Aviation What-Not website on CD. Aviation What-Not is what Internet Modeler grew out of, being a monthly magazine published from 1997 through 1998. The price for each CD-ROM is $9.99 USD, with shipping costs extra depending on where you live in the world. Figure anywhere from 2-6 weeks for shipping time (probably less, but just to be safe). For everyone who writes a Feature article for us, they will receive that year's CD-ROM for free, so if you don't want to buy one, write your way to one! | |
