Wespe SdKfz 124 By George Parada, Mariusz Suliga, Waldermar Hryniewicki Kagero Publications ISBN 83-914824-5-6 56 pages We've had the pleasure of reviewing some of the earlier releases from Kagero and in this installment, the authors give you the same four-part look at the Wespe, just in time to detail that 1/35 masterpiece recently released by Tamiya. As with the previous titles in this series, part one is a brief history of the SdKfz 124 including a few B&W photos of the machine in action. Part two provides a full-color detailed walkaround of several Wespes surviving in museums. Part three has a discussion on detailing the 1/35 kit including sources of aftermarket detail parts and a look at some of the details in a completed kit. Part four has a vast array of three-view drawings, scrap details and other useful looks at the unique details found on this machine. To round out the utility of this title to the modeler, there is even a decal sheet included with enough markings for at least nine Wespes. This title is highly recommended to the armor modeler! Eastern Front Part I Stanislaw Jablonski, Rafal Dudzinski Kagero Publications ISBN 83-914824-2-1 40 pages This new title is from Kagero's 'Camouflage & Decals' series and this is definitely my favorite! The first part of this title covers the colors and camouflage applied to Soviet armor in general. Included in this section are some great B&W photos of a variety of Soviet tanks in action. The remainder of the volume is dedicated to providing at least two views of various armor subjects including: BT-5, BT-7, KV-1, T-34/76, OT-34, T-34/85, KV-85, JS-1 and JS-2. Forty profiles are included, and what is even more impressive is the decal sheet that is provided with markings for all 40 profiled tanks! Fifteen of the featured tanks are also profiled in color on the front and rear covers. This series is definitely produced with the serious modeler in mind and gets my top recommendation! | |
