Like the earlier CD on the Gulf War Panther reviewed in the November 2001 issue, this latest example from MiliPics does a great job of walking you around this vehicle. This time the Daimler Mk. II comes under the lens of MiliPics, to great detail. Nearly 100 photos are on this CD, covering both the exterior and interior.

The majority of the photographs are of a beautiful Mk. II that was slowly restored over six years from a gunnery range target, using original war office manuals. There are also a few photos of an unrestored Mk. I vehicle showing off some of the differences between the two. The introduction mentions that while the restored Mk.II is pretty faithful in regards to the interior, exterior fittings often varied between vehicles in service and this example is only one possible option.

Viewing the material is easy as well. On a PC the CD will automatically load up, revealing a page with an introduction and five sections. Clicking on the section links will take you to several photos, all of which are captioned and provide lots of additional information. The thumbnails provide links to larger images, allowing you to see details that are likely never to appear in print. Although I was told that the CD doesn't work on a Mac, the only real feature that doesn't work is the autorun bit, so if you've got a Mac you can view the same thing PC users do by simply opening the Home.htm file in the Daimler MkII folder.

After seeing this CD-ROM I know that I'll be checking the MiliPics website every time I start an armor project. The amount of information present makes this an inexpensive reference that is invaluable to the superdetailer.

My thanks to MiliPics for the review sample.
