Werner Wings 1/144 Pavehawk Combat Rescue Decals
By Matt Bittner
This is my first item from Werner Wings and I must admit it is quite awesome. This set of decals in 1/144 is for the Dragon/DML MH/HH-60G and cover no less than 16 helicopters (although more can be made by substituting numbers in the various serial numbers, etc.). Those MH/HH-60G covered are:
- MH-60G, 82-23689
- MH-60G, 87-26011, 55th SOS Operation Desert Storm, 1991
- HH-60G, 92-26466, 210th RQS AK ANG, 2003
- HH-60G, 97-26773, 41st RQS, 2002
- HH-60G, 91-26353, 88th TES, 2003
- HH-60G, 87-26009, 2015
- HH-60G, 89-26206, 56th RQS, 2014
- HH-60G, 89-26209, 33rd RQS, 2012
- HH-60G, 90-26227, 305th RQS, 2015
- HH-60G, 90-26224, 2011
- HH-60G, 87-26008
- HH-60G, 89-26201, 55th RQS, 2008
- HH-60G, 90-26226, 2014
- HH-60G, 88-26120, 129th RQS CA ANG, 2007
- HH-60G, 92-26465, 2009
- HH-60U, 10-20321
These are really great decals and appear to be in register. There are enough serials to cover one aircraft and the instructions cover all camo schemes of this helicopter: three tone Euro-1 'lizard' scheme, a Desert Storm two tone scheme, OIF three tone desert scheme and the final overall AFSOC grey. In addition, there are extra "moustaches" for the Air Force "Pedro" schemes if you're building one of those. Plus, the MH-60G that picked up "Lone Survivor" Markus Latrell, the MH-60G that rescued the F-117A pilot downed in Kosovo as well as the MH-60G that rolled down the mountainside in Alaska are all covered.
I really like this set and it will open up a new modeling-realm for me, especially since I have only completed one helicopter in 1/144 so far, so now I need to track down at least one set of Dragon 1/144 MH-60Gs. While it appears this specific variant is out of production, all parts exist within the other Dragon 1/144 H-60 releases so no worries.
