Steel Scorpion 1/144 Air Carrier Deck Bases
By Matt Bittner
As I mentioned in my previous article, Steel Scorpion is an aftermarket producer out of Poland. They have a number of unique items for sale, some of those being bases used for various aircraft. So far they have bases in 1/144, 1/72 and 1/48. To create the actual "look" of an airfield, etc., Steel Scorpion uses a special multilayerd print to represent a textured surface. They apply that print to a piece of 6mm PVC. The bases look very realistic and are very sturdy. These two bases in 1/144 reflect two different type of "Modern Air Carrier Decks", that is, modern decks of an aircraft carrier. The first has its taxi lines and other markings parallel to the bases' edge and could represent the area for take-off. The second has
its taxi-lines at an angle, and could represent the landing-area.If you're looking to display your models on something besides the usual "wood block-type base", then what you need to do is purchase one of Steel Scoripon's bases.
My thanks to Steel Scorpion for supplying these bases for review. Please note Steel Scorpion is looking for world-wide distributors. If you would like to sell our products in your shop (or online) - just let us know! Contact:biuro@steelscorpion.pl.
