Print Scale 1/72 CH-47 Chinook Decals

By Matt Bittner

Print Scale is one of those companies that tend to cover subjects no one else does (although they have their fair share of "standard" subjects, as well). This is one of those releases, providing markings for 1/72 CH-47 Chinooks. There are seven helicopters covered with this release:

  • CH-47D, 89-00150 "Black Pearl", Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in Afghanistan, between 2007 and 2009 decals_ps72041-2.jpg
  • CH-47, 71-20955, was known as the "Widow Maker"
  • CH-47D, 90-00217, Model number 3369
  • CH-47, 67-18452 "BOONY BUS" 132nd ASHC aircraft between 1970 and 1971, Vietnam
  • CH-47A, 67-18440  "Virgin Hunter", 159th ASHB, 101 st Airborne Division, early '70s, Vietnam
  • CH-47A  66-00047,"Happy Hippie", Vietnam, circa 1969
  • CH-47A "WILD THANG" of the 178th MHC, American Division, at Chu Lai during July 1970

Decals are very nicely printed and appear in register. There are two sets of stencils, one set black, the other yellow. The black stencils are for the more "recent" aircraft, while the yellow stencils are for the Vietnam-based birds.

All Chinooks on this sheet are finished overall in Olive Drab, so painting couldn't be easier. I'm assuming since a kit isn't listed you could use these decals on either the Italeri or Trumpeter kit.

A big "thank you" to Print Scale for sending these decals for review.
