Print Scale 1/48 Antonov An-2
By Matt Bittner
This release from Print Scale covers the 1/48 An-2, produced by both Valom and NeOmega. The decals cover the following aircraft:
- An-2 Aeroflot USSR, 01666, 1980 – finished in white upper surfaces, sea grey undersides and red detail/upper flying surfaces (or it could be red tips?)
- An-2 Management Polar Aircraft, end of 1980 – finished overall in "orange", which Print Scale calls "Humbrol 193 Blaze Gloss"
- An-2 Aeroflot of Russian, 32392, 1990 – finished in white upper surfces, sea blue undersides, and red undersides of the lower wing
- An-2 SP-FAP in original marking, Poland – red and white all over with a horse-head marking on the fuselage side
- An-2 of Aeroflot in the color scheme of the 1960s what was olive green upper surfaces with sea blue under sides
- An-4 (float plane), VMF (naval aviation) USSR – finished overall in "matt middle blue"
- An-2 of 28th fighter division of the Polish Air Force – camouflaged in dark green, green, light blue and linen, with the under sides finished in dark green
The decals are nicely printed and are in register.
My complaint would be with the instructions. Print Scale only provides a port side color profile of all schemes, except for #32392 which consists of a small, color photo. There are no top views for any of the aircraft as well as no bottom nor starboard view. One could assume the starboard would be the same as the port, and hopefully none of the aircraft had anything different, side-to-side. I will definitely tell you to perform your own research, once you've decided on a decal set to use for your model.Included are separate drawings to help with the placement of the provided stencils.
My thanks to Print Scale for sending these decals to review.
