Print Scale 1/48 Albatros D.V Decals
By Matt Bittner
Two of Print Scale's recent releases are these two decal sheets in 1/48 for Albatros D.Vs. Both sheets require other decals for some of their schemes – either the Print Scale Bavarian "diamonds", and/or Print Scale's (or another manufacturer's) lozenge decals. These decals are broken out in a Part 1 and Part 2. The Part 1 sheet consists of the following schemes:- Albatros D.Va, July 1917: "Bavarian diamonds" and complex heraldry on both sides of the fuselage
- Albatros D.Va, Ltn. Paul Baumer, Jasta 5, Boistrancourt aerodrome, January 1918: this is his famous "Edelweiss" Albatros
- Albatros D.Va, D.7353/17, Oblt. Hans-Joachim von Hippel, Jasta 71, 1918: lozenge wings and a "man-in-the-moon" on the fuselage sides
- Albatros D.Va, Jasta 43, Ltn Josef Raesch, 1918: Hakenkreuz on both fuselage sides with lozenge wings
- Albatros D.Va, Walter Bo(umlaut)ning, Jagdstaffel 76b, Lieramount, France, March 1918: "Bavarian diamonds" on the fuselage sides with lozenge wings
- Albatros D.Va, D.7327/17, Lt.z.See Lothar Weiland, Seefrontstaffel 1, July 1918: Hakenkreuz on the fuselage sides over a "scrumble" camouflage
Decals appear a little matt, but otherwise seem okay. Registration appears to be good and colors look nice. With the stab colored-outline being catered for in decals, it would be interesting if these decals work on anything other than the Eduard kit; however, is there truly any other Albatros D.V worth building in 1/48?
Our thanks to Print Scale for sending the decals to review.
