By Jacob Russell
This is the third of Fantasy Printshop's exciting new 1/48th scale decal sheets for the North American F-100D Super Sabre in United States Air Force service. It has 3 very colorful aircraft options, as follows:
"FW-796", F-100D Super Sabre, 56-2796, flown by Captain Robert Maxwell of the 511th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 405th Fighter Bomber Wing, USAF, Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, 1959. Overall natural metal with blue nose band, fin and rudder.
2) "FW-558", F-100D Super Sabre, 56-3558/"STINGER", of the 35th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 8th Tactical Fighter Wing, USAF, Itazuke Air Force Base, Japan, 1960. Overall natural metal with red/yellow/blue nose band, and black stylized bands fin and rudder, both of which are outlined in white.
3) "FW-315 ", F-100D Super Sabre, 56-3315, flown by Major C. Jones of the 492nd Tactical Fighter Squadron, 48th Tactical Fighter Wing, USAF, Chaumont Air Force Base, France, 1959. Overall natural metal with a black flash on the nose and black and white bands on the fin and rudder.
Fantasy Printshop printed these decals and they are superb. They are crisply printed, fully legible, in register and have excellent color. The decal sheet doesn't include any stencils, which you can find on Fantasy Printshop's F-100D Insignia and Stencil sheet.
I've always been a F-100D fan. They were exciting aircraft finished with some of the 50's most coolest markings. If you're looking for a colorful 1/48th scale F-100D you'll have 4 great options to choose from with this exciting new Euro Decals sheet. I recommend these decals and I would like to thank Fantasy Printshop for the review sample.
