Eduard Brassin 1/48 MG 131 mount for FW190A/F
By Jacob Russell
This new Brassin set (item number 648 070) is for Eduard's 1/48th FW190A/F kits. It consists of 15 parts, 6 of which are resin. The rest of the parts are photo-etched on an unpainted fret. They include latches for the gun bay and windscreen demisting piping. The resin pieces comprise the complete gun bay-bulkheads, ammunition canisters and a pair of MG 131 machine guns. The detail on the resin parts is quite impressive. I may be mistaken, but I don't think I have ever seen windscreen demisting plumbing on a p/e set. The original hoses are round of course and Eduard's are flat but it is still a nice detail. The set is well packaged and it features Eduard's usual well illustrated instructions.
Eduard's FW190A-5, A-8, A-9 and F-8 kits are accurate and highly detailed. This set represents a nice upgrade over the kit parts. However, the Focke-Wulf machine gun bay was a veritable rat's nest of wiring and plumbing, so to reproduce this you will need good references, such as the Aero Detail or Squadron Walk Around books. I recommend this Brassin set and I would like to thank Eduard for providing the review sample.
