Eduard Brassin 1/48 MC.202 Undercarriage Bay
By Jacob Russell
This new Brassin set is for Eduard's reboxing of Hasegawa's venerable Macchi C.202 kit. The Macchi is one of Hasegawa's older toolings, and it show in the simplified cockpit and wheel wells. The wheel wells in particular are complex and full of hoses, wires, etc., and these details are conspicuous in their absence.
Eduard comes to the rescue with this Brassin set. It consists of 25 parts, 9 of which are resin. The remaining 16 are photo-etched pieces on a single fret. All of the pieces are up to Eduard's customary standards. The resin parts, which comprise the lower rear of the engine and various hoses, pipes, etc., will look outstanding with careful painting, an application of dry brushing, and an oil wash.
This is a great set and I recommend it. Although I normally frown upon models displayed on mirrors, your finished Macchi C.202 with this undercarriage bay would look stunning on a mirror. I would like to thank Eduard for the review sample.
