Eduard 1/72 Spitfire Mk.IX Brassin Cockpit
By Matt Bittner
To enhance their already excellent 1/72 Spitfire Mk.IX Eduard has released a really superlative and super-detailed resin Brassin cockpit. While the cockpit out-of-the-box is excellent, everything can be improved and this cockpit proves it. There are 24 pieces of resin, a photoetch fret with multiple pieces and a piece of clear film that includes the gun sight "glass".
Since the injected plastic kit and this Brassin cockpit were developed side-by-side you can be assured, with the proper care and fitting, of excellent parts placement. There is some surgery involved on the plastic pieces but it's mostly scraping away some of the molded-in detail. Otherwise it's just a matter of painting the resin parts, fitting it all together then placing it within the plastic fuselage halves. The set provides an option of a gun sight and seat headrest dependent on the time-frame of the aircraft's development (check references for the specific aircraft you're building).
There is one thing to note: the instructions show the placement of a voltage regulator (part R22) but again, this is dependent on the time-frame of your specific Mk.IX's build. This was mainly a carry-over from the Mk.V so it's important to consult your references.
So if you want to take your Eduard 1/72 Spitfire Mk.IX to a higher level then by all means pick up this cockpit set. My plan is to include it in one of the Overtrees boxings Eduard sent for review.
Thank you, Eduard, for sending this in for review.
