Eduard 1/72 Meng F-102 Self-Adhesive Photoetch
By Matt Bittner
When the Meng 1/72 F-102 came on the market, I know I was excited. It has been decades since Hasegawa's release, and the 1/72 world sorely needed a new-tool F-102 (and other Century fighters). The Meng kit does not disappoint.
This set from Eduard can be considered the more "fuller featured" set that contains more than a small "Zoom" set just for the cockpit. Of course the "Zoom" set is there, but there's another photoetch fret that contains more pieces to add.
There are photoetch pieces to really enhance the kit's ejection seat, along with side console and rudder detail. In addition there's the usual two-piece instrument panel that is added to the kit's panel after all the raised detail is sanded away. You receive replacement oleo scissors for the landing gear, along with tie-downs and brake lines, and other pieces that are added to the landing gear. There is enhancement detail for the exhaust area, plates to add to the wing and additions to the speed brakes. With a little bit of kit surgery, there are improvements to the arrestor hook and there are additional pieces to add to the area behind the ejection seat and the cockpit sills. There are parts to improve the nose landing gear door and a part to add to the canopy. Finally there are a lot of pieces to improve the missile bay, including interior, missile ray additions, missile enhancements and pieces to add to the doors.
If you want to add more detail to the already excellent Meng 1/72 F-102, then you'll want to pick up this set. My thanks to Eduard for sending this set to review.
