Eduard 1/72 Brassin Spitfire Wheels
By Jacob Russell
Eduard has introduced a series of Supermarine Spitfire variants in 1/72nd scale. These include the Mk.VIII, Mk.IX and Mk.XVI. These planes used both 4 and 5 spoke wheels, with smooth and block tread tires.
The Spitfire Mk.I and variants up to and including the Mk.IX used 5 spoke wheels. The Brassin 5 spoke wheels are accurate and highly detailed, and include both masks and a highly detailed tailwheel.
Some Spitfires, notably the Mk.VIII, in service with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) used wheels with block tread tires, due to many unimproved airfields used by the RAAF. Eduard's 4 spoke wheels with block tread are also quite detailed, and they also include masks and a tailwheel.
Although these wheels are intended for Eduard's own Spitfire kits they are applicable to any 1/72nd scale Spitfire model out there. They look great and they add useful detail. I recommend these wheels and I would like to thank Eduard for the review sample.
