Eduard 1/72 Brassin Spitfire Mk Vc Exhaust Stacks for the Airfix Kit
By Chris Banyai-Riepl
Overview
Eduard's Brassin line of resin details are simply stunning, and these are no exception. Eduard has taken care to make sure all their castings are crisply done and created from the highest detailed masters possible. They also work hard to make sure they fit the intended kit perfectly, thus minimizing or eliminating any trimming work.
The Resin Bits
The exhaust stacks of the Airfix Spitfire Vc are not bad, but there are limitations in the injection molding process that just makes producing highly detailed examples impossible in that medium. Resin, though, allows for far greater detail and Eduard has done just that. The exhaust openings are very petite and to scale, as is the tiny hole on the leading edge of the exhaust stack. The exhausts also include a pipe on the end that some Spitfires had, and the instructions indicate where to cut if your particular one does not have that feature. The exhausts have the same pin setup as the kit parts, so these will be no different to apply than the kit parts.
Conclusion
These Brassin exhausts for the Airfix Spitfire Vc are simple and easy to use, yet are so much better than the kit parts that you will be hard pressed to only use these in your build. This level of detail just begs for even more, such as photoetch and aftermarket decals, so be forewarned. Get these exhausts and you will want to go all out on your Spitfire build. My thanks to Eduard for the review sample.
