Eduard 1/72 B-25B Mitchell Photo-Etch Review
By Jacob Russell
Eduard has released 3 photo-etch sets for Airfix's new 1/72nd scale B-25B Mitchell bomber kit. So let's take a look at them!
SS716
This is Eduard's Zoom set. It consists of 52 pieces, many of which are pre-painted, on a single PE fret. Most of the parts are destined for the cockpit. These pieces include a new instrument panel, 2 seat harnesses, throttle quadrant, sidewall consoles, radio faces, etc.

This set is for the B-25B bomb bay. It consists of 30 pieces on a single brass PE fret. It's a fairly complex set and it will take some time to assemble. You will have to remove a fair amount of material from the interior, but it doesn't look that complex to do, thanks to Eduard's well illustrated instructions.
73716
73716 includes the PE from the Zoom set and a second brass fret, for a total of 139 pieces. I've already covered the Zoom set so let's examine the "extra" fret. This adds great detail all over the air frame. You get a pair of ignition harness for the Wright Cyclone radial engines, landing gear oleo scissors, a retractable access ladder, front landing gear door, etc.
Airfix's B-25B Mitchell bomber has been well received. It's accurate and well detailed right out of the box. You can up the ante considerably with these Eduard PE sets and you can choose how much detail you want to add. You can keep things simple with the Zoom set or pull out all the stops with the full set plus bomb bay. I recommend these sets and I would like to thank Eduard for the review samples.
