Eduard 1/72 Albatros D.V Weekend Aftermarket
By Matt Bittner
Overview
Since the release of the Weekend Edition kit of the Albatros D.V, Eduard has also produced a couple of aftermarket sets for their kit.
The Aftermarket
Naturally, since Eduard is well know for their masks, they have released a set of masks for their Albatros D.V. Not only will it cover the wheels, but it will also cover the wing's radiator.

The other aftermarket set for the Albatros D.V is - of course - a set of photoetch. With this set you receive pieces to add to the cockpit (including some that have been newly "pre-painted"); an in-accurate control stick; belts for the seat; fold-up ammo box; items for the cockpit sides; replacement machine gun cooling jackets; small pieces for the forward fuselage; panels for the wings; a fold-up exterior part for the wing-underside radiator with handle; control horn shrouds and rigging for the ailerons; control horns for the stab; and other exterior pieces.

Conclusion
While producing an excellent 1/72 Albatros D.V is definitely possible out-of-the-box, there can also be more added to any kit. In addition, using Eduard's masks will definitely take a little off your modeling time. My complaints still exist with their Albatros D.V kits, though, that being the in-accurate control stick both out of the box and in this photoetch set, and the lack of radiator pipes leading from the engine to the wing's radiator.
I definitely thank Eduard for sending these sets to review. They will definitely enhance the Weekend Edition build.
