Eduard 1/48 Brassin Spitfire Mk.V Wheels
By Jacob Russell
This new pair of 1/48th scale Brassin wheels are intended for the Airfix Supermarine Spitfire Mk.V. They are actually correct for any early to mid-War Seafire or Spitfire, up to and including the Mk.IX, that used five spoke wheels.
It's a simple set, consisting of 4 resin pieces and a set of masks. The resin is up to Eduard's usual standards: highly detailed and well cast. The separate wheel faces and masks make it easy for even the most ham fisted modeler (we know who we are) to paint the wheels without drama.
I feel that "small details" like accurate wheels matter. My eyes gravitate to these areas when I examine models built by my friends, and at contests. It is the sum of these details that separates contest-winning models from the also rans. But you needn't enter your model in a contest to appreciate how the aftermarket can help add detail to your models. I recommend this set and I would like to thank Eduard for providing the review sample.
