Eduard 1/48 Brassin Bf109G-6 propeller
By Jacob Russell
This propeller is for Eduard's own Messerschmitt Bf109G kits. It consists of 9 parts. 2 of these are photo-etched (the “lip” of the engine mounted Mauser cannon). Many injection molded props come as a single piece but Eduard molds the spinner, back plate and prop blades separately. They also provide an alignment jig to accurately place the blades.
Vector, Aires and Eagle Parts, among others, offer aftermarket Bf109F/G props and spinners, which is a testamament to how many manufacturers get these parts wrong! Eduard appears to have captured the elusive spinner and prop shapes quite well. I also like the separate back plate, because in many cases the spinner and plate were painted in different colors.
Eduard has moved light years away from the days of limited-run kits with complex, photo-etched “origami” cockpits in lieu of detailed plastic parts. Their injection molding is equal to AccuTamiGawa and the upstarts from China (Trumpeter, Meng, etc). I applaud them for expanding into resin to enhance their kits, as well as those of other manufacturers.
I recommend this Brassin set and I would like to thank Eduard for the review sample.
