DXM 1/48 JASDF F-2A F-2B 2010 TAC Meet and Anniversary Decals
By Winston Gould
DXM has released several JASDF decal sheets that focus on the different and unusual. Sheet 13-4208 covers the 2010 JASDF Tactical Air Meet (TAC MEET) and Anniversary for the F-2A Viper Zero and the JASDF 2004 50th Anniversary F-2B Viper Zero. Decals are included for six F-2As and one F-2B. All aircraft are in the two-blue "Sea Camouflage" currently used by the JASDF (FS35045/FS35109). Markings for the 3rd, 6th, 8th and 21st Squadrons are included. My favorite being the "Skull Riders" of the 6th Squadron. A bonus for this set is the inclusion of two metal Angle-of-Attack (AOA) probes and one metal pitot tube are also part of this detail set. These are direct replacements for the applicable kit parts. The complete package comes in a resealable poly bag – however, beware of the adhesive when you replace the items in the bag.Comprehensive instructions leave no doubt about placement of the stencils and major squadron marking. Included are stencils for one aircraft with multiple serial numbers that will allow you to make any F-2A/F-2B in current JASDF service. Instruction paint color call-outs are for GSI Mr. Color and Humbrol.
The only 1/48 kits available at this time are the Hasegawa F-2A and F-2B, with several different issues available.
My thanks to DXM for sending this detail set in for review.
