Brengun 1/144 Attack MiG-17 Replacement Canopies
By Matt Bittner
One item that normally turns out to be too thick in kits – especially those in 1/144 – is the canopy. When you scale down "real" glass it should be extremely thin, and help being able to see in and out of the cockpit. When the kit is considered "short-run", the plastic tends to be thicker than those kits considered "main stream". Such is the case with Attack kits (and in no way is this to belittle Attack kits, it's just the way it is).To the rescue is Brengun, in this case for the Attack MiG-17s, both the "standard" MiG-17, and the MiG-17PF. Using a vac-formed canopy instead of the kit-supplied one, will help in overall "scale presentation". Plus it will help with being able to see the cockpit. So, if you want to open up your 1/144 MiG-17 cockpit, and help with the "scale attractiveness" of the kit, then by all means purchase these Brengun vacumforned canopies.
Big thanks to Brengun for the review set.
