Brengun 1/144 Attack MiG-15 Photoetch
By Matt Bittner
Brengun is known for supplying photoetch and other aftermarket for kits that are otherwise neglected. While the Attack 1/144 MiG-15 has been on the market for some time, there hasn't been anything released for it, until now. This photoetch set from Brengun offers plenty of enhancements to take this kit to a higher level.
After performing a little bit of plastic surgery (the cockpit is blanked over, so that plastic needs to be removed) the photoetch fun begins. The first step is folding the cockpit tub and the sidewalls that attach to it. Next you assemble the instrument panel (one photoetch piece is attached to the clear film that supplies the instruments), the rudder pedals, and then the seat. The seat consists of six parts: the back of the seat; the seat cushion; two sides; and two foot holders (for when the pilot ejects from the cockpit). Once the seat is assembled then the four seat belts are added, and it's glued into the cockpit tub along with the rudder pedals. Now the cockpit tub and instrument panel can be added into the kit's cockpit.
Other parts on the photoetch fret consists of all landing gear doors, under-wing antenna and a part for the rear of the canopy (although I would squash-cast a new canopy, using the kit's canopy as a master, so all the detail you just added from the photoetch set can be better seen).
All in all this is an excellent set to update the Attack 1/144 MiG-15.
A definite "thank you" to Brengun for the review sample.
