Balkan Models 1/72 Antonov An-2 Decals
By Matt Bittner
If you're looking for alternative markings for your Bilek/Italeri Antonov An-2, then you'll want to pick up this decal sheet from Balkan Models. It provides decals for six different An-2s:
- Antonov An-2 No. 027, 16th Transport Air Base - Vrazhdebna, Bulgarian Air Force, Vrazhdebna AB, 2009, finished overall in white
- Antonov An-2 c/n 1G17104, No. 70374, Yugoslav Air Force, 1991, finished in "JRV Grey" and "JRV Green" on top, with Light Blue undersides
- Antonov An-2 No. 70373, Serbian Air Force, Batajnica AB, 2008, finished in "JRV Grey" and "JRV Green" on the upper side, with Blue on the under side
- Antonov An-2 No. 150, 501st Parachute Diversion Detachment, Macedonian Air Force, Petrovec AB, 2003, finished in Ochre, Yellow Green and Forrest Green on top and bottom
- Shijiazhuang Y-5, No. 34, 4050 Regiment, Albanian Air Force, Tirana AB, 2006, finished in Dark Grey on top and Blue Grey on the bottom
- Antonov An-2 No. 5 (c/n 1G167-05 ex YU-BKA), Croatian Air Force, SZV Osijek, 1992, could be the most "fun" to paint, since it had tiger-like stripes of Dark Ochre, Grey Green, Matt Black on top, with Grey Green on the bottom
Decals are - as usual for Balkan - very nicely printed and appear to be in register. You can be certain that if one of these schemes tickles your fancy, then there will be no problems with them.
My thanks to Balkan Models for the review sample.
