Aviation Workshop 1/72 Tornado RAPTOR Pod
By Matt Bittner
The RAPTOR (Reconnaissance Airborne Pod TORnado) pod was first introduced to the RAF in 2002. It was developed based on a need for the Tornado to have a high-altitude digital reconnaissance capability and was put to good use during Operation Iraqi Freedom, or as known in the UK, Operation Telic. You can find more information on the pod here. The resin Tornado RAPTOR Pod (CS-104) by The Aviation Workshop is a very nice aftermarket piece. Not only do you get the pod, but also the separate fins that attach at the rear of the pod. These are too-scale, so care must be taken with handling these thin parts. There are no pinholes/airholes at all and little clean up needed. If you're interested in modeling a GR.4/4a Tornado that used these pods, then this is a must as I believe it's the only option available. Plus, you can also purchase the Operation Telic decals from The Aviation Workshop.
My thanks to The Aviation Workshop for the review sample.
