APC Decals 1/72 L.F.G. Roland D.VIb
By Matt Bittner
Overview
After World War I, a number of fighters ended up in hands other than the fighting nation. This is definitely true with the L.F.G. Roland D.VIb. Note that Michael Kendix has built the one kit available - from MAC Distribution - using markings from an earlier APC Decals release.
The Decals
This decal set is for two L.F.G. Roland D.VIbs that were re-marked and flown by the Czechs. According to the instructions:
- Aircraft No. 2250/18 had a fuselage in the color of wood, wings were covered with a linen with a printed lozenge pattern. A black serial number on the fuselage. This was in simplified form written on all the detachable componenets. The metal covers were probably painted in gray-green color. (This one had a white '2' on the fuselage sides.)
- Aircraft no. 2253/18 flew in the same camouflage as the previous machine, only on the fuselage had a number 1.
Decals are nicely printed and appear in register. Note that you'll have to source your own set of "lozenge" decals as this set only comes with the Czech markings.
Huge thanks to APC Decals for supplying these decals to review.
