Platz 1/72 X-47B w/GBU-27
By Matt Bittner
The Northrop Grumman X-47B UCAS (Unmanned Combat Air System) has reached many milestones, including taking off from and landing on an aircraft carrier. It is the first truly autonomous aircrft made special by the fact it's for the United States Navy.
Since I've already written a First Look on the first release I will let you read that article for kit specifics. This release not only comes with a pair of GBU-27s but also different decals. Yes, you still receive markings for the two prototypes currently flying, but also "what if" markings for two entirely different squadrons than from the first release.
I'm still working on the first release. Be aware there are some fit issues if you decide to have the wings folded - the actual "fold parts" have gaps that need to be addressed, not easy considering all the detail in this area.
Also be aware the kit calls for both bombs to be painted light gray, but from what I can tell they actually should be olive. This is definitely an area you'll need to perform some research on.
All in all this is an excellent kit and should not take long to build.
My thanks to Platz for sending this for review. Now to finish the first one.
