Eduard 1/72 L-39ZA Weekend Edition
By Matt Bittner
The Aero L-39ZA was an upgraded L-39ZO with sturdier landing gear, a higher payload and the ability to mount the GSh-23L 23mm cannon in a pod under the cockpit. Eduard has released their 1/72 L-39 throughout the years in different guises (L-39C and L-39ZO) and this time they include markings to create the L-39ZA.
The Kit
The Eduard 1/72 L-39ZA - kit #7427 – consists of 57 injected pieces molded in tan and 5 clear pieces, including canopies and landing lights. Decals are up to Eduard's usual high standards and consist of the following schemes:
Since a Weekend Edition kit has already been covered in these hallowed halls, I will send you to the original review. The only difference between that kit and this one is which parts you use to create the ZA version of the Albatros.
Out-of-the-box this will build into an excellent representation of the Aero L-39ZA. Note that Eduard has also released a photoetch fret for the Weekend Edition kit so if you would like a little more detail, then you might want to pick that up as well. In addition Eduard has also released a set of their Super Fabric belts that can be used with the kit as well. Either way you go it will look excellent sitting on your shelves.
My thanks to Eduard for the review sample.
