Revell 1/25 Orange Crate
By Chellie Lynn
Overview
Another blast from the past from Revell. This kit originally saw the light of day in 1963. The Orange Crate was the first car to claim both the Los Angeles Winternationals and Oakland Trophy two consecutive years. A chopped and channeled '32 Ford sedan body sitting atop a fully chromed custom tubular chassis makes for a very impressive show car.
The Kit
This kit dates to the early 1960's and was very advanced for the time. During the life of this kit the molds were modified; however, everything appears to have been restored to original for this release.
There are lots of fiddly bits to allow for the hinging of the doors and body. Be careful and guard against the carpet monster.
Accuracy
Appears to be dead on as a replica of the original. Can't swear to it, but it looks right.
Conclusion
Not for the novice, there are as mentioned lots of fiddly bits and the fully chromed frame makes for a bit of a challenge. Work carefully and you will have a nice model of a historic show-and-go rod of the 1960's. Thanks go to Revell for the review sample.
