Trumpeter 1/72 F-100F Super Sabre
By Matt Bittner
The Kit
I won't go into any details about the Trumpeter 1/72 Super Sabres, instead I will refer the reader to Chris' article outlining the Trumpeter 1/72 F-100C and F-100D. He does an excellent job outlining both what the contents of each single-seater is, as well as lists everything that is a potential problem with those kits.
The only difference - naturally - between the F-100C/D and the F-100F is the two-seat fuselage, cockpit and canopy. Everything else between the F-100D and the F-100F is the same. There are three schemes catered for on the decal sheet (nicely printed and in register). A SEA-camouflaged machine; and two natural-metal Sabres, one with a red lightning rod on the fuselage and fin/rudder, the other with red/white/blue stripes on the nose.
Conclusion
The Trumpeter 1/72 F-100F is a decent enough kit. Unfortunately I don't have an Italeri/ESCI F-100F to compare it against, so I don't know which one is more accurate, or builds better. I suspect, though, the Trumpeter kit has a lot more detail than the ESCI one does.
My thanks to Stevens International for sending the review kit.
