 Afterburner
Decals 1/48 VFA-154 F/A-18F "Black Knights"
Another new decal sheet sent to us for review from Afterburner Decals
is sheet AD 48-036, and is F/A-18F VFA-154 “Black Knights”
2004 - 2006. This sheet was printed by Cartograf in Italy and is in perfect
register. The decals are thin and contain a minimum of carrier film around
the decal designs.
All aircraft on this sheet are in the Standard Tactical Scheme of FS
36320 Dark Ghost Gray on the top, with FS 36375 Light Ghost Gray on the
bottom.
These aircraft are featured on this sheet:
F/A-18F, 165910, modex 100, 2006 CAG. This aircraft is painted in the
standard paint scheme with gloss black vertical tails. There are red diagonal
stripes on the outside tails. The tips of the vertical tails are also
red. Full color stencils are on this aircraft, and the “100”
and “BLACK KNIGHTS” on the fuselage sides are black with red
shadows. There is also a round shield on the left front fuselage of an
ancient Japanese Warrior.
 F/A-18F,
165933, modex 112, 2006 Line Jet. This aircraft is painted in the standard
paint scheme with standard gray markings. There are shorter gray diagonal
stripes on the tail. The fuselage sides contain simply “VFA-154”.
F/A-18F, 165910, modex 100, 2005 CAG. This aircraft is painted in the
standard paint scheme and features Dark Gray, FS 36081, vertical tails.
The red diagonal stripes are on the outside tails along with a Knight
in full armor and shield. The tips of the vertical tails are also red.
The fuselage side contains “VFA-154” and “100”
in black with red shadowing.
F/A-18F, 165934, modex 101, 2004 CO. The aircraft is painted in the
standard paint scheme. “101” and “VFA-154” on
the fuselage side is black with red shadowing. The tips of the vertical
tails on this aircraft are black. The outside vertical tails feature a
Knight in full armor and shield.
There are two decal sheets in the package. A regular size sheet contains
most markings and stencils, while a smaller sheet contains the remaining
markings.
Whether one likes to build colorful CAG and CO aircraft, or line jets,
there is something for everyone on this sheet. It is an excellent value.
The instruction sheets are in full color and are on a single two sided
sheet. The other sheet in this package contains a full color Weapons and
Stores guide, while the other side contains a Stencil Guide.
