Afterburner Decals 1/48 "GREEN HORNETS" By Frank Anselmo

Recently released by Afterburner Decals is huge decal sheet, AD48-022, “GREEN HORNETS”. It features F/A-18D flagships operated by the 2nd MARDIV and MAG II of VMFA(AW)-121 and VMFAT-101 at MCAS Miramar, California. These markings have been sized for the Hasegawa kit, and include the following:

-165413 VMFA(AW)-121 F/A-18D MCAS Miramar, September 2007 and AL ASAD Airfield, Iraq Spring 2007. This aircraft contains special markings from its Return from Iraq. It carries the insignia of the units of the 2nd Marine Divison on its right vertical stabilizer. VMFA(AW)-121 is in green on the left side of the fuselage, and 2D MAR Div is in red on the right side. A full color flag is placed on the speedbrake.

-164049 VMFAT-101 F/A-18D MCAS Miramar, September 2007. The markings may look familiar to those who remember this units A-4 Skyhawks and F-4J Phantoms.

Sufficient stencils are provided on this decal sheet to build both aircraft. Full page instructions are provided for each aircraft with plenty modifications applied to each aircraft. A full page Stencil Guide is also provided, including markings not only for each aircraft, but also the landing gear and the SJU-17 ejection seat. A Weapons and Stores layout is also provided, along with a Painting Guide. The decal sheet is nearly 10 inches by 8 inches, and is printed in perfect register by Cartograf. This sheet is highly recommended.
