Talon Acrylic Natural Metal Finish Paints and SnJ Powders

By Matt Bittner

I plan on using these paints in the very near future, but just wanted to get the word out these are readily available - and they're acrylic!! That is definitely great and I've been waiting for a decent set of NMF acrylics. While "the truth is in the cooking" and I won't know for sure until I actually use them, everything I've read about these paints say they're great to use, as long as you're aware of how to use them. According to the different articles you need to lay down the paint in very light coats. Don't try to cover the model in "one spray" and instead spray it multiple times. In addition, depending on the under surface, you may want to spray a primer coat. The paints appear not to stick when spraying on surfaces with an oily or waxy feel even after being cleaned and prepped.

The powders were provided to bring the final finish to a high-sheen.

So, watch for future Internet Modeler's for when I get around to actually using them. I plan on finishing up a Prop & Jet Nikitin NV-1 which will use these paints to great advantage.

My sincere thanks to Hawkeye's Hobbies LLC for supplying these paints.
