Zvesda's 1/72 French Elite Infantry "Voltigeurs"

Zvesda's figure set.
This
is a new offering in Zvesda's "Age
Of Battles" wargaming line of 1/72 scale figures. This set contains
four sprues of 40 soldiers with separate backpacks molded in a soft blue
vinyl plastic. These figures are come in 11 realistic poses from standing
to kneeling. The poses range from NCOs, officers, musicians and 'Voltiguer'
infantry.
This French infantry set from the early 1800s exhibit crisp, well executed
molding, and are virtually free from flash.
Uniform, especially the flag bearer, and weapon details are nicely done,
as are the facial details. Each figure is attached to the sprue at the
bottom of the base and near the top of the head. Cleanup on all the figures
appears to be minimal with very fine parting lines. The boxart will give
you a very good idea on how to paint these figures. On the back is a photo
of each painted figure. The enclosed instructions offer you information
on points value of these figures for the "Age Of Battle" system.
A war gamer is advised to read the rule book for further game information.
It would have been nice if the instructions include a painting guide with
color numbers from either Testor's, Humbrol or Tamiya for color reference
when painting.
Conclusion
This set of French Infantry is some of the most cleanly molded
and nicely detailed figures of this scale that I have seen. Weapons, gear,
and faces are well detailed. I highly recommend them to wargamers and
modelers alike. I would like to thank Zvesda
for the review kit.
