Bomarc:
IM-99 Sentinel

118 Minutes, NTSC
DVD Encoded for all regions
The DVD collection from rocket.aero continues to grow, bringing classic
footage and photographs of some lesser known subjects. This latest title
covers the Bomarc surface to air missile. The Bomarc under SAC control
was the only non-Army SAM in US inventory. Capable of speeds up to Mach
4 and a range of 400 miles, the Bomarc formed an important part of North
American air defense, both in the United States and in Canada. The last
Bomarc was retired from service in the early 1970s, giving the missile
over a 20 year history.
Like other DVDs from rocket.aero, this one is broken down into a roughly
chronological approach, with sections including the 1953 Bomarc Annual
Report, 1956/57 Bomarc Testing, Bomarc/X-10 Target Testing, and Modeler's
Notes, which include footage of a Bomarc intercepting a QB-17. As these
rely on archival materials, the quality may not be the best, but there
is still plenty of information for the modeler and enthusiast alike. With
nearly two hours of material, this DVD will go a long ways to getting
you excited about that Revell Bomarc you have in your closet (c'mon, I
know you have one; everyone does: when it first came out, it sold over
450,000 units in the first year!).
The rocket.aero titles continue to be a high quality DVD product that
are well worth having. Visit their website for ordering information on
this one, and their previous releases. Be sure to check out their upcoming
releases, too. That V-2 in America DVD is going to be very interesting,
I'm sure! My thanks to rocket.aero
for the review copy. |
