M113
As venerable as the Sherman was
to World War II the M113 is today. This aluminum hulled tracked vehicle,
like the Sherman, had many variants from an personnel carrier to a heavy
weapons platform it uses were efficient and many. The M113 served in many
armies around the world as a mass export to other countries. They are
still in use today and are a common sight in both uses during peace and
conflict.
M113 Tech Reference
As
an avid armor modeler I have strived to produce as accurate a reproduction
of an AFV as possible. The holy grail of documentation has been the use
of out of print and bulky vehicle technical manuals. Dataview has come
up with a great information tool in this PDF format of M113's technical
information. DataView has given you 182 electronic pages of information.
It contains schematic diagrams from the actual technical manual TM9-2350-261-24P
and others. You will see explicit difference between the variants for
the M113 platform plus camouflage diagrams to assist in painting you M113
model. The inaction color photos of these vehicles are an added plus.
Seeing these make me want to build a UN ambulance from the Kosovo theater.
If you are familiar with a technical manual this gets down to the nut
and bolt detail of subassemblies of the M113 vehicles. You can't beat
this when it comes to accurately building your model of a M113 variant.
Conclusion
Please note that if you purchase the PDF version, download for only
$5.99 via PayPal, you will need to install Adobe Acrobat in order to view
the information. Otherwise, you can purchases a CD ROM version of this
data file for $9.99 (plus $3 shipping and handling in the US). This is
one of the most technically informative documents on the M113 that I have
seen, especially in this convenient format. I highly recommend this one
if you want to detail any M113 variant. I would like to thank Dataview
Publications for the review data file.
