 Overview
While some modelers like the appearance of a clean airframe, hanging
stuff under the wings really makes a model look realistic. With Trumpeter
having released, or planning on releasing, many Russian and US aircraft
in 1/32, finding appropriate weapons can be challenging, if you don’t
want what comes in the kit. These latest weapon sets address that issue.
US Aircraft Weapons Set A
The US Weapons Set is labeled as A, indicating that we will see another
release before too long. This set contains mainly air to ground weaponry,
with one exception being the AIM-9B Sidewinders. This set contains Mk
82 bombs, regular and snakeye type, either with or without fuse extenders,
Mk 117s, also with a choice of with or without fuse extenders, AGM-45
Shrikes, AGM-12 Harpoons, AGM-84E Harpoons, AGM-65 Mavericks, AGM-62A
Walleyes, AGM-88 HARMs, GBU-10s, GBU-8s, and AIM-9Bs. To help attach these
to the aircraft, the set includes TERs, LAV-88s, and MERs. A comprehensive
decal sheet adds that extra level of detail that will really make these
weapons look realistic. The total complement is 12 Mk 82 and 12 Mk 82
Snakeye bombs, 6 Mk 117s, 6 AGM-65s, 2 AGM-12s, 2 AGM-62s, 2 AGM-88s,
2 AGM-45s, 2 MERs, 2 LAV-88s, 2 TERs, 2 GBU-10s, 2 GBU-8s, 2 AIM-9Bs,
and 2 AGM-84Es.
       
Russian Aircraft Weapons Set
For the Russian weapons set, the box is a bit bigger, which is understandable
since it has more weaponry in it. This set has a great combination of
air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons that will look great loaded up onto
your Su-27, MiG-29, or that nice, scratchbuilt Su-22 or Su-25. For the
air-to-air weapons, this set contains the R-77 AA-12 Adder, R-27/27AE/27ER/27T
AA-10 Alamo, R-73E AA-11 Archer, and the R-60MK AA-8 Aphid. Air-to-surface
missiles include the Kh-31P AS-17 Krypton, Kh-25ML AS-10 Karen, Kh-25MP
AS-12 Kegler, Kh-35A AS-20 Kayak, and Kh-29L/29T AS-14 Kedge. For bombs,
this set includes the FAB-100, FAB-250, FAB-500, KAB-500L, and KAB-500Kr.
Other weaponry and fuel tanks include the UPK-23/250, UB-32M, ZB-500,
B-8M1, KMGU-2, S-25L/25OF/25OFM, B-13L, PTB-1150, and PTB-1500. The set
contains two of everything except for the R-77, R-60MK, and R-73E, which
total four each.
