Austro-Hungary made extensive use of flying boats of all sizes, ranging
from small single seaters up to the larger K class boats. The W13 fell
into the latter category and George Haddow describes the genesis and use
of it by the KuK Kriegsmarine.
Designed by Ernest Heinkel, the W.13 won out over the Weichmann KG,
and at least 134 were ordered from three firms in late 1916, with the
type being delivered from March 1917 right up to the summer of 1918.
As well as numerous photos, there are general arrangement drawings in
1/48 and 1/72 scale by George Haddow, a cover by Robert Karr and three
profiles by Ronny Bar.
