Yellow Wings Decals National Insignia Sheets

As announced in our newsfeed earlier, Yellow Wings has expanded their
range into new scales. Some of the first sheets to show up are the national
insignia sheets, which will be of great use for modelers.
First
up is Part 1 of the 1/32 sheets. As the insignia in this scale are quite
large, there are only a few aircraft options given here. These are the
SBD Dauntless, the F4F Wildcat, and the F2A Buffalo. The Wildcat is available
in either the Revell or the Trumpeter kit, while the Buffalo and Dauntless
are upcoming releases from Special Hobby/Classic Airframes and Trumpeter,
respectively. In total you get four 52”, four 50”, four 46”,
and two 24” roundels.
Part 2 of the 1/32 national insignia sheets provides a bit more, as
these roundels are smaller in size. These are the Neutrality Patrol roundels
in 24” and 36” sizes. Additionally, there are roundels for
the F4B-4 and the BF2C-1. Both of these aircraft were done by Hasegawa
ages ago, and aside from the limited cockpit detailing, they are very
nice kits. Hopefully we will see some additional decals from Yellow Wings
for these biplane subjects. On this sheet you get four 45”, four
40”, four 30”, six 36”, and nine 24” roundels.
Switching scales, the first Yellow Wings 1/72 release provides no less
than six roundel sizes, from 40” to 60” diameters. The instructions
provide placement information for the following aircraft: PBY Catalina,
SB2U Vindicator, TBD Devastator, SBD Dauntless, F2A Buffalo, F3F, and
SBC Helldiver. There’s quite a few stars on this sheet, too, with
eight 60”, eight 55”, ten 52”, ten 46”, eight
42”, and ten 40” roundels. As these were used solely on the
wings, that equals quite a few models to build. Luckily for most of those
aircraft, there are (or will be) nice kits available.
For
you 1/48 modelers, Yellow Wings has expanded as well, providing a new
release with Operation Torch roundels. Now technically these are not yellow
wing aircraft, but with those big yellow surrounds, there is a fair amount
of yellow, so we’ll let that slide…. Seriously, though, Operation
Torch roundels can be quite tough to find, unless they are in the kit
you’re building, so this is a welcome release. There are quite a
few sizes on this sheet, five 60", five 55", five 50",
six 45", six 40", and seven 35". These should cover a wide
variety of aircraft.
All of these are very nicely printed with perfect register. The color
density looks to be quite good, and these should pose no problems in application.
