Eduard 1/48th Bristol F.2B "BrisFish"

By Matt Bittner

Background

I though we had already done an FL on any of the Eduard BrisFits already released. Turns out I was wrong, even though we have one of our regulars working on a full-build article for the Profipack version. So, since that article won't appear until July, I'll give a short description of this latest release of Eduard's F.2B, which they've labeled the "BrisFish".

The Kit

Sorry to be so verbose, but there are lots and lots of parts to this model. Did I mention lots of parts? Not only do you get the full kit of the Bristol Fighter (also commonly known as the "BrisFit") but you also receive a set of Eduard's WW1 RFC Personnel. Outstanding!

Couple this with the photoetch, masks and clear film (for the windscreens) you have an outstanding effort of a late-war WW1 biplane.

There are decals for only one aircraft, which is why Eduard has called this the "BrisFish". The markings are for B1288, which had unique markings of scales and other things painted on the fuselage sides. Striking! The Avi Print decals are really well done, in register and look extremly nice.

Did I mention there are a lot of parts? This kit will definitely take more than a weekend to build, but even so, you won't need anything else than what's provided for in the box. A definitely complete kit that - unless you don't like the markings - is a complete model in one box.

Conclusion

Eduard's BrisFits are well known in the WW1 modeling community. I can see why, as they're very complete and should look quite stunning built up. Couple the kit with the unique markings Eduard provides with this release, and you have quite the show stopper and conversation starter. This is definitely recommended.

My thanks to Eduard for sending the review sample.
