Eduard's 1/35 JagdPanzer 38(t) Hetzer (late)

By Kent Kirkpatrick

Hetzer

Please read Don Barry's in-box review of Eduard's early Hetzer in the February issue of Internet Modeler for an in-depth look at the unassembled kit then you can read his fantastic 'build' article on the same kit in the April issue of Internet Modeler. Both of these articles are highly recommended if you are looking in building one of Eduard's Hetzer kits. Here, I will touch on the differences offered by the late version of the Hetzer.

The Kit

The late version of the Hetzer differs from the early version mainly in the rear engine deck, exhaust and the main gun mantlet. Due to these differences in the kit, the photo-etch sets contain some detail parts on the engine deck. The decal sheet offers you two different Hetzer markings. You can choose from the 8th SS Cavalry Division "Florian Geyer" from Transylvania in September 1944 or 97th Panzer Jager Abteilung from Czechoslovokia in May 1945.

Conclusion

As Don Barry put it in his review of the early Hetzer, "This is a great kit, no question about it." This is an impressive multi-media kit. It easily renders the Italeri version obsolete. This even puts the others kits by Dragon to some shame and those are very good kits. Are they worth the price? That's up to you and your check book. I would like to thank Eduard for the review kit.
