Italeri 1/72 Rafale M
|
|
Overview
The
new fighter Rafale was developed by the French industry for France´s
national defense requirements. It is in experimental stage for the air
force as C version and in its new M version for the navy. The plane, while
being apparently quite similar to the land version, it was in reality
extensively modified in its structure and landing gear to cope with its
aircraft carrier role. With its introduction into military service, which
is planed for 1996/97, it will be possible to substitute the aging F-8
Crusaders, which have reached the limits of their operative life-span,
with a modern attack and air superiority all-weather aircraft.
The Kit
Again
this is another reissue from Italeri. The box has two very well moulded
gray plastic sprues. The kit has raised panel lines, but this is very
well done. The kit bring pieces with no flash and with good details, if
they are well worked they make this kit a little pretty gem. The landing
gear are very well moulded and the weapons provided seems to be correct
and they are two Magic a four Mica missiles plus two extra fuel tanks.
The clear parts are very well done and the thickness seams to be correct
and the structures around them make it easy to mask before paiting job
because this is really prominent. The canopy can built in opened or closed
position. The cockpit area has some details, nothing spectacular but enough
for the brand and kit, with little efforts and replacement of the seat
this will be great.
The
instruction sheets are very comprehensive and easy to understand. The
decals again are very well printed and only one version is provided in
this kit.
Conclusion
The
beginner will definitively love this kit; more experienced modelers and
for those who like recessed panel lines must choose the Revell 1/48. But
again the raised panel lines are no problem for those who likes the challenge
to convert a raised panel line kit to recessed panel line as me.
My thanks go to Testors and Internet Modeler for this review sample. |
