The latest title in the new Black Cross series presents the famous
Junkers Ju 87 Stuka. Like other titles in this series, this is a comprehensive
analysis of the development and construction of this famous aircraft.
For those who are more interested in the operations, there are plenty
of other books out there, but for those who want to detail up their latest
Ju 87 model, this is an excellent book to have.
The text starts out with the development process of the Ju 87. This
development program is a fascinating read, as it hints at just how world
powers viewed military aviation, and what its perceived strengths were.
Following this section comes a detailed breakdown of the construction
of the Ju 87. This is what will be of invaluable use to the modeler,
as there are many detail photos showing factory Ju 87s, both on the assembly
floor and up close. The photos of instrument panels are particularly
well done, and are some of the best seen in print. The text and photos
cover the Ju 87 from front to rear in close detail, with all the major
external areas covered, as well as much of the interior.
This is an excellent modeling reference on the Junkers Ju 87, and one
that should find its way into the library of any Luftwaffe aficionado.
As the Black Cross series grows, the titles just keep getting better
and better, and I look forward to the next volume with anticipation.
My thanks to Specialty Press for the review copy. This, and all the other
Black Cross titles, can be ordered from their website.
