What''s in the Box?:
The kit comes in an end-opening type box. The box art is Tamiya's typical
color painting on a white background. It shows the five figures supplied
in the kit tightly huddled together.
Side panes of the box show illustrations of German weapons and gear.
The back of the box serves as the assembly and painting instructions,
with a short history in Japanese and English. Inside the two end flaps
of the box are black and white illustrations of the German tank destroyer
Marder III and the Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. L, which are offered by Tamiya in
their kit line. So, not one inch of this box is wasted.
The box contains two parts trees in Tamiya's signature dark green plastic.
The
larger of these two trees holds the parts for the five figures. These
are divided into separate heads, torsos, arms and legs. The legs have
the bottoms of overcoats molded into them. Also, on this tree, is one
base stand piece, two steel helmets with cloth covers molded into them,
a Walther P-38 pistol in its holster, a stick grenade with a belt buckle
holding it and a snail drum of ammo for a machine-gun. (36 parts).
These figures are all posed in kind of crouched postures. two of them
have white, cotton, hooded smocks over their overcoats. Detail is very
good.
The
second, smaller, parts tree holds: an MG34 machine-gun with its ammo can,
spare barrel and ammo pouches. There is also an MG42 machine-gun with
its ammo can and either a folded or extended ground bipod. There are five
steel helmets, five duffle bags, five short shovels in their pouches,
five mess kits, 1 map case, a Luger and a P38 pistol in holsters, an MP40
machine pistol and its ammo magazine pouches, five gas mask canisters,
five rolled tarps, two Mauser K98k carbines with four of their ammo pouches,
two bayonets in scabbards and a pair of binoculars.(59 parts)
These figures will work very nicely into a Russian Front diorama or
any winter scene.
They are nice and crisply molded with no flash.
I purchased my kit, while out of town, at a Hobby Lobby store in another
city. My city does not have one of these stores and I make a point of
swinging into one when I see one.
