Italeri 1/72nd Country house

Italeri 1/72nd Country house

By Matt Bittner

This is an interesting addition to the Italeri line. It appears to me that Italeri are marketing a number of kits to the wargaming market. This "Country house" is one of them. However, it could also be used by those looking for diorama material. While it doesn't come with an interior, with a little scrounging in the spare parts bin and at your local model railroad shop I'm sure you can come up with enough pieces/parts to add to the inside to make it interesting. The nice part about this house is that it comes with a floor for the second story.

You can see the amount of pieces that come with this kit. The one thing that struck me when I first handled the box was the weight of all the pieces in one space. It's definitely not light (although not heavy either - the weight just takes you by surprise) since it's all injected plastic through and through. You'll notice on the box "vines" and "moss" and "grass" that covers certain areas of the house and its base. This is needed as to hide the gaps that ensue when you build the kit. Granted, they're not "huge" gaps but if you don't want to putty what's left then the moss/vines/grass is a viable alternative.

All in all this is impressive and should build easily. It will definitely look like a house when complete. What I plan on doing with this one is to use it when shooting photos of armor models for review. I think this will only enhance the images taken.

Thank you to Testors for supplying this house - and it's not even in the middle of the street!
