Many of us have been looking for a good source of stowage diagrams because
theyre so useful in working out the internal arrangements of tanks
as well as where all the kit should go on the outside. Barry Beldam has
been collecting them, and now gives us a good selection covering 17 vehicles
- C15-TA armoured truck, Fox Mark I armoured car, Lynx Mark II scout car,
Otter Mark I light reconnaissance car, Ram Kangaroo, M24 Chaffee, M3 Grant,
M3 Lee, LVT Sea Serpent flame thrower, M4A4 Sherman V, M4A4 Sherman VC
Firefly, M4A4 Sherman V Duplex Drive, M4A4 Sherman V Crab Mark II, Staghound
Mark I armoured car, M3A3 Stuart V, and M5A1 Stuart VI officially
stated to cover the M5 as well but someone erred in making the original
drawings since the new turret led to changes in the original M5 arrangements;
thats not something to blame Barry for. Although these are not the
US stowage details the major bits like gun and transmission were the same
so just check for the smaller items if youre building a US tank.
Everything you need is here to model what shows through the hatches, and
even to make a good start on a complete interior.
Its fascinating to see just how different Lee and Grant arrangements
were, considering that theyre based on the same hull, and those
between the M4A4 versions. A further 7 volumes are planned to cover wartime
and postwar British-built armoured vehicles, so buy this one to encourage
the future plans. Recommended!
QMD will supply to North America of course, and readers in the UK can
order from Barbarossa Books where I bought my copy. Although at the time
of writing their website seems to be offline the telephone number is 01621
810810.
